Membership System
A way to register members, store their contact info, manage renewals, and track their status (active, lapsed, etc). This could be a simple spreadsheet, a membership platform, or custom software.
Payment Processing
A method to collect membership fees: online (e.g., Stripe, PayPal), in-person (cash/card), or via bank transfer. Set clear pricing, due dates, and refund policies.

A system to log member visits and workshop use. Could be a manual sign-in sheet, keycard system, or app-based check-in to monitor who’s in the space and when. ****
Health and Safety Orientation
Require new members to complete a safety briefing or induction. Include basic first aid, tool use policies, and emergency procedures.
Fire Safety Procedures
Post clear evacuation maps, train members on exit routes, install and maintain fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and alarms. Keep fire exits accessible at all times.
Tool Access Rules
Define who can use which tools, under what conditions. For example, restrict certain machines to trained users only. Display rules near each station.
Privacy and Data Protection
Ensure member information is stored securely and only used for legitimate purposes. Be clear about how data is collected, stored, and shared.
Code of Conduct
Set behavioral expectations to ensure a respectful, inclusive environment. Include steps for reporting and resolving conflicts.
Insurance Coverage
Make sure your workshop is covered for liability, damage, and accidents. Some policies may require you to document safety procedures and member agreements.
Member Agreement or Waiver
Have all members sign a basic agreement or waiver acknowledging the risks involved, agreeing to follow the rules, and releasing the space from certain liabilities.
